Hey there, anglers! Ready for some serious action on the Lower Laguna Madre? Our 5-hour private trip out of Port Isabel is just the ticket. We'll hit the water at 7 AM sharp, giving you prime time on these world-class flats. You'll be riding in style on our brand new 2024 Shallow Sport 24 Classic - a beast of a bay boat that'll get us into all the honey holes where the big ones hide.
Look, this ain't your average boat ride. We're talking about real deal flats fishing here. We'll mix it up with bottom fishing, popping, and drift fishing to keep things interesting. Our target? The holy trinity of Texas inshore fishing: Black Drum, Redfish, and Speckled Trout. These waters are teeming with 'em, and I know just where they like to hang out. It's just you and a buddy on this private trip, so we can really dial in on what you want to catch. No newbie crowds, no rushed spots - just quality time on the water with an expert who knows these flats like the back of their hand.
Alright, let's break it down. When we're bottom fishing, we're looking for those subtle bumps and takes - could be a monster Black Drum down there. For popping, we'll work those topwater lures and watch for explosive strikes from Redfish busting bait. Drift fishing? That's when we let the wind do some work for us, covering ground and presenting our baits naturally. I'll show you the ropes on all these techniques. We've got top-notch gear on board, but feel free to bring your favorite rod if you've got a lucky streak with it. Just remember, on the flats, it's all about finesse and reading the water. One minute you're sight casting to tailing Reds, the next you're working a deep hole for Trout. That's the beauty of fishing Port Isabel - it keeps you on your toes!

Let's chat about what's swimming around out there. Redfish, or Red Drum if you're fancy, are the rockstars of the flats. These copper-colored bruisers can grow up to 40 inches long and put up one heck of a fight. They love to cruise in shallow water, often with their tails sticking out - it's a sight that'll get your heart racing every time. Spring and fall are prime time for Reds, but honestly, they're around all year. There's nothing like the pull of a big Red on light tackle.
Now, Black Drum - these are the bulldogs of the bay. They might not be as flashy as their Red cousins, but man, can they pull. We're talking about fish that can tip the scales at over 30 pounds. They've got a sweet spot for crustaceans, so we'll often use crab or shrimp to entice 'em. Winter and early spring is when they really school up, but you can find 'em year-round if you know where to look. When a big Black Drum hits, you better hold on tight!
Listen, I could go on all day about the fishing here, but nothing beats experiencing it firsthand. This 5-hour trip is the perfect taste of what Port Isabel has to offer. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just getting your feet wet, we'll make sure you have a blast and hopefully put some fish in the boat. The Lower Laguna Madre is calling, and the fish are waiting. So what do you say? Let's get you booked and out on these legendary flats. Trust me, once you fish here, you'll be hooked for life. Don't let this chance slip away - grab your spot now and get ready for some real Texas fishing action!

Redfish, or Red Drum, are a real Texas favorite. You'll spot 'em by that distinctive black spot near their tail - it's not just for looks, it helps fool predators. These guys typically run 28 to 33 inches, but can get much bigger. We find them in super shallow water, sometimes with their backs sticking out! They love hanging around in bays, near oyster reefs, and in lagoons. Look for areas with seagrass or other vegetation in 1 to 4 feet of water. Redfish aren't picky about bottom type, but they do seem to prefer mud. Spring and fall are prime time for Reds, but you can catch 'em year-round here. They put up a great fight and are excellent eating - light, flaky, and tasty. Anglers love 'em because they'll hit just about any lure or bait. Here's a tip: when sight-fishing for Reds, use a weedless lure. Cast beyond the fish and drag it into their line of sight. They can't resist an easy meal moving right in front of them. It's a blast watching them chase it down!
Black Drum are big, tough fighters that'll give you a run for your money. These guys typically range from 5 to 30 pounds, but can get up to a whopping 90 pounds. You'll find them hanging around oyster beds, muddy flats, and in brackish waters. They're bottom-feeders, so look for them in shallow areas, especially during spring when they're spawning. What's cool about Black Drum is the drumming sound they make - it's actually their mating call. They're not picky eaters, crushing up shellfish and oysters with their strong jaws. If you're aiming to eat your catch, stick to the smaller ones under 15 pounds - they taste better and have a nicer texture. For bait, you can't go wrong with live crab or clams. They love that stuff. If you're using lures, go for slow-moving jigs that stay close to the bottom. Here's a local trick: use a bit heavier weight than you think you need to keep that bait right where the drum are feeding. It's all about getting their attention down there in the mud.
