Hey there, fellow anglers! Ready to hit the flats for some serious redfish action? This half-day trip out of Port Isabel is your ticket to some of the best inshore fishing Texas has to offer. We'll be cruising the Lower Laguna Madre in a sweet 2024 Shallow Sport 24 Classic - perfect for sneaking up on those tailing reds in skinny water. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting your feet wet, we've got the gear and know-how to put you on the fish. So grab your hat and let's get after it!
We'll meet up bright and early at 7 AM, giving us prime time on the water when the fish are most active. This 5-hour private charter is all about you - no sharing the boat with strangers here. We'll start by hitting some prime spots for black drum and redfish, using a mix of techniques to see what's working best that day. The Lower Laguna Madre is known for its crystal-clear shallows, so keep your eyes peeled for those tell-tale signs of feeding fish. Don't worry if you're new to this - your guide will be right there to help you spot 'em and show you the ropes on how to present your bait just right.
We'll be mixing it up with bottom fishing, popping corks, and drift fishing to cover all our bases. When the reds are tailing in the shallows, there's nothing quite like the rush of sight-casting to a big bull. We might throw some soft plastics, live bait, or even fly fishing gear if that's your thing. The key is staying flexible and reading the water. Some days they want it slow and steady, other times a quick pop gets 'em fired up. Don't sweat it if you're not sure how to work the lures - that's what I'm here for. By the end of the trip, you'll be working those artificials like a pro.

Redfish are the star of the show here in Port Isabel, and for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers can grow upwards of 40 inches, with most of our catches in the 20-30 inch range. They love to hang out in the shallows, often giving themselves away with their tails sticking out of the water as they root around for crabs and shrimp. Fall is prime time for big bulls, but we catch quality reds year-round. The fight of a redfish is something special - they'll take off on long runs that'll have your drag singing. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like that first topwater blow-up when a big red smashes your lure.
Black drum might not get the glory of their redfish cousins, but don't sleep on these powerful fighters. We typically catch them in the 5-30 pound range, but they can grow over 50 pounds! These bottom-feeders have a distinctive downturned mouth perfect for rooting out crustaceans from the seafloor. While they're around all year, late winter and early spring is when we see the big schools move in for spawning. Black drum put up a stubborn, head-shaking fight that'll test your arms and your gear. Plus, the smaller ones make for some mighty fine eating if you're looking to take home dinner.
While we're primarily targeting reds and drum, don't be surprised if we run into some speckled trout along the way. These spotted beauties are a blast on light tackle and are known for their acrobatic jumps when hooked. Spring and fall are peak seasons, but we catch them year-round in the Lower Laguna Madre. They might not grow as big as the reds, but a 20-inch speck is still a trophy in any angler's book.
Alright, folks, if you're itching to bend a rod and fill the cooler, this is the trip for you. We've got the boat, the knowledge, and some of the best inshore fishing grounds in Texas right at our doorstep. Whether you're looking to cross redfish off your bucket list or just want a fun day on the water with family and friends, we've got you covered. Spots fill up fast, especially during peak seasons, so don't wait to lock in your date. Give us a call, and let's get you out on the Lower Laguna Madre for a fishing trip you won't forget. Tight lines, and we'll see you on the water!

Black drum are the heavyweight cousins of redfish, often hitting 30 pounds and sometimes pushing 90. You'll find them in brackish waters and estuaries, especially around oyster beds. Spring's the prime time as they school up to spawn, making some weird croaking sounds underwater. Anglers dig 'em for the challenge - these fish have powerful jaws built for crushing shellfish. Just remember, for eating, stick to the smaller ones under 15 pounds. The big boys can be tough and not as tasty. My go-to trick? Use fresh crab for bait. It stays on the hook better than other options and really gets their attention. Work it slow along the bottom, and be ready for a good tussle when one takes the bait.

Redfish, or red drum, are a real prize in our local waters. They typically run 28-33 inches, but can grow up to 45 inches and 50 pounds. You'll find them in shallow flats, bays, and around oyster reefs - often in water so shallow their backs break the surface. They're most active in fall and spring, but we catch 'em year-round here. Anglers love redfish for their strong fight and tasty, light-flavored meat. Look for that distinctive black spot near the tail - it's actually a false "eye" to fool predators. When targeting reds, I always tell folks to work those topwater lures with a "walk the dog" motion. The explosive strikes when a red smashes your lure on the surface - that's what keeps people coming back for more.
